Sophisticated artificial intelligence systems rely on enormous amounts of data. The U.S. government is sitting on a trove of datasets, and, in recent years, there have been calls to make this data more publicly available to spur the development of new AI applications. In February, the president issued an executive order directing agencies to prioritize research and development in AI. This included asking agencies to identify high-priority federal datasets and models that could have useful commercial applications, and to increase the public’s ability to access these resources.
Join POLITICO on Wednesday, July 24, for a deep-dive conversation on the role of the federal government in facilitating the use of public data to advance AI technologies.
